Dietmar Zembrot joined the company as Chief Technical Officer of the RIDI Group on 1 July. Manfred Diez is Managing Director and leads the sales activities and management of the RIDI Group as its CEO.
2019
The interior lighting portfolio of Selux in Europe is acquired. The products are integrated in the brands RIDI and Spectral and thus offer a comprehensive product range for project solutions.
The new building is completed in September. Sales, marketing and management move into the new offices. This working environment features open and spacious rooms, touchdown and meeting points as well as chillout lounges.
The RIDI Campus with wide-ranging options for seminars, conferences, web meetings and workshops is located on the ground floor. A large exhibition space is directly adjacent to it, as well as a cafeteria with a kitchen for events.
The RIDI Campus begins offering seminars for customers and training courses for employees in October.
2017
The construction of the new headquarters in Jungingen begins in May. Major investments are made over the next few years in a new training centre, exhibition space, offices and an underground car park.
The subsidiary RIDI ITALIA SRL with headquarters in Milan is founded in June.
Our commercial agency AXIOMA in Belgium is fully acquired in November. AXIOMA’s focus lies on professional lighting solutions and distributing interior and exterior lighting from renowned manufacturers.
2016
The product brand RIDIhomelight becomes li:fy.
It increasingly moves away from the home sector towards areas such as hospitality, lighting for later in life and retail. The professional use of decorative lighting and special solutions for commercial interior design are placed front and centre.
It becomes a partner of the long-term LebensPhasenHaus project in Tübingen, Germany. This is where age-appropriate living is researched and continuously updated while factoring in new findings.
2015
The RIDI GROUP website goes live.
This is where the company RIDI Leuchten GmbH, as well as its three brands RIDI, Spectral and RIDIHomelight, presents itself, alongside its corporate culture.

2013
The second SMD mounting system is ordered, as well as several climatic chambers for examining LED circuit boards for resistance to high temperatures, high humidity and other factors.
The RIDI-TUBE is introduced to the market. This is an LED lamp that can be replaced like a conventional fluorescent tube.
2012
The first SMD mounting system is put into operation - a milestone in RIDI's history.
This technology allows the company to gain independence from suppliers. RIDI Leuchten GmbH becomes faster and more flexible by mounting its own LED circuit boards and is able to develop individual circuit board designs.
2011
RIDI purchases climate-neutral energy from the nearby biomass power plant.
This allows the company building to be air conditioned. The powder coating plant also receives all its energy over pipelines from the biomass power plant. With this move, the company management is moving consistently a further step towards its goal of sustainability.
The summer of 2011 sees the integration of the RIDIhomelight brand into the RIDI company group. Design-oriented glass light fittings, each one unique, shaded light fittings for restaurants, retail applications and residential homes create the perfect complement to the luminaire portfolio.
2010
The Spectral brand familiar to architects and planners is integrated into the RIDI Group. The sales network is extended to bring this range of premium design luminaires and expert advice closer to the customer.
A new department is developed at the parent plant in Jungingen concerned exclusively with LED technology and its development.
This means that the RIDI Group is ideally prepared for the future with LED technology. It invested at a very early stage in the production of semi-conductors, a completely new product area for the RIDI Group. In-house production promises independence from suppliers and outstanding flexibility.
2009
Market launch of the new, innovative RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system with through wiring profile. This ground-breaking new profile enables interfaces for wide-ranging accessories such as sockets, emergency lights, illuminated signs etc. at any optional location. The RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system can also be equipped with movement and daylight-dependent sensors.

Flood disaster at RIDI Leuchten in Jungingen. The parent plant in Jungingen only just averts a complete catastrophe, with three days of total production outage.
Construction of a fully automated luminaire production line for recessed luminaires.
2007
Installation of an ultra-modern, environmentally friendly powder coating system at RIDI Leuchten in Jungingen.
The plant has a chain length of 500 m, the throughfeed time for a luminaire body is around 2 hours. The plant works fully without producing waste water.
Construction of a complete new building for RIDI Polska in Lódz.
2005
The Swiss branch becomes a fully owned subsidiary of the RIDI Group, now trading under the name RIDI Schweiz AG.
2002
Creation of a new training and information centre.
RIDI Leuchten GmbH extends its regular customer and employee information days and workshops.

Inauguration of the fully automatic Logistics Centre at RIDI Leuchten GmbH in Jungingen.
The high-bay warehouse is 120 m long, has 6500 compartments and is serviced by 3 rack handling units.
This ensures even faster, more flexible delivery of products to customers.
The branch in Poland becomes a fully owned subsidiary and is renamed RIDI Polska.
At RIDI Nord in Rellingen, the RIDI LINIA production area is extended by 1000 square metres.

The invention of the T16 lamp prompts the start of work at RIDI to develop new luminaire models to accommodate this slimline lamp.
Production at RIDI in Jungingen is supplemented by an additional hall.
In Poland, the joint venture company RIDI Elester is founded to supply the East European market.

RIDI acquires a share in the company Eukolux AG in Switzerland, trading under the name of Eukolux RIDI AG.
The RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system is launched, replacing the predecessor system and enabling even faster, more uncomplicated mounting and greater flexibility.
The RIDI LINIA system continues to be manufactured exclusively in Rellingen.
Another innovation is the installation of a robot for automatic luminaire wiring.

RIDI is certified to ISO 9001 for the first time.

Construction of a new production hall and a fully automatic high-bay warehouse near Berlux in Zeuthen.
The first sales branch outside Germany is founded: RIDI Leuchten GmbH in Vienna. The start of consistent expansion into the European market.
1991
Following the reunification of Germany, the company Berlux is integrated into the RIDI Group.
BERLUX was a part of the Narva cooperative and was acquired by the Treuhand Trust Agency following reunification. In the same year, production of RIDI luminaires starts at Berlux.
1989
Change of legal status to RIDI Leuchten GmbH, a private limited company.
Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Diez becomes Chief Executive Officer.
The RIDI product range is extended to include wall mounted and recessed downlighters. This opens up an important market, turning RIDI Leuchten into an increasingly all-round supplier in the lighting business.
1987
RIDI's own new SL quick-assemble continuous lighting system marks an important milestone. The short assembly time in particular makes this a highly popular option, turning the RIDI continuous lighting system into a successful product line.
The RIDI Nord production plant in Rellingen is completed.

Manfred Diez completes his degree in electrotechnology at the Technical University of Berlin and enters as assistant to the General Management at RIDI Leuchten Richard Diez.
1980
The first luminaires with parabolic mirror louvres are produced at RIDI Leuchten.
Parabolic mirror louvres are in conformity with the new workplace directives for VDU workstations.
1970
RIDI Leuchten production moves towards the field of technical luminaires, as cheap alternatives from abroad begin to dominate the living room lighting market. New development work focuses on louvre luminaires, which enable light to be directed selectively towards workplaces without glare.
RIDI Leuchten exhibits for the first time at the Hannover Trade Fair. For the global lighting market, Hannover was the single most important international trade fair where all the competitors came together to gauge the interest of the trade public.
1952
Richard Diez sets up a business in Jungingen as a self-employed electrical engineer.
Business booms, as the upswing following the end of the war turns into what is referred to as the economic miracle.
This meant that it was soon possible to take on more employees.
It was only in the quiet winter months months that business slowed down, which prompted Richard Diez to come up with an ingenious and ground-breaking idea. So that his employees had work in the winter months, he launched production of the first kitchen luminaire, the A1. Initially assembled from externally sourced parts, soon the first machine was purchased to allow independent production. The product range was quickly extended to include living light fittings. The company grew, new buildings were occupied.
First contacts were made to wholesalers, establishing the future sales concept.
The foundation stone for the success of RIDI Leuchten had been laid.
